Poruma Island has its own professionally equipped Medical Aid Post (MAP) staffed by assistants and a registered nurse. The MAP has been proficiently servicing the health care needs of the Poruma Community for decades. 

Should intensive medical assistance be required, a comprehensively equipped and staffed Medical Evacuation Helicopter is on standby at nearby Thursday Island Hospital.

Your accommodation has a television and telephone from which you can make and receive ISD calls.

Only mobile satellite telephones will work on the Island.

Internet access and fax facilities are also available.

There is a local shop and movies are also shown regularly on the island.
